The Rubbermaid Commercial 9VUL12 Ultra Light upright vacuum cleaner has a 12-inch cleaning path, a self-adjusting nozzle to clean different surfaces, large outboard rear wheels, and a built-in center-balanced handle for lifting and carrying. Upright vacuums are better suited for cleaning carpets than typical canister vacuums and take up less space for storage. The vacuum's floating nozzle raises and lowers automatically so that it can clean bare floors and carpets with different pile heights without being adjusted. The nozzle’s edge bristles help remove debris from corners and against walls, and the wrap-around bumper helps prevent damage to furniture. The upright vacuum's handle can be lowered to a flat position to vacuum under furniture and for storage.

This vacuum has a 0.65-horsepower/4 amp motor. The 40-foot power cord enables the vacuum to cover a larger area without changing outlets than vacuums with shorter cords, and the cord-wrap holds the cord for storage. The back of the handle pole has a built-in extension cord hook to hold an extension cord during use. The cord has a grounded plug to help protect against electric shock. The power button is located on the top of the handle tube.

The vacuum collects debris in an included disposable 10.63-quart paper bag that is contained within a reusable cloth bag to help prevent dust from escaping into the air. The paper bag has an elastic collar that connects tightly to the dirt tube to help keep debris inside the bag. This vacuum has received a Carpet and Rug Institute (CRI) Green Label certification for low volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions to help improve indoor air quality, and it also has a CRI Seal of Approval for soil removal and indoor air quality.
